The conversation around exercise has evolved over the years. While many people have been led to believe that more intense, strenuous exercise is the key to good health, recent research has highlighted the benefits of lighter, more moderate forms of movement.
One should exercise according to their age, weight, and physical health - and most of all it should never feel detrimental to the body - sending one on a journey for pain killers.
When we are young, we are conditioned to believe that strenuous exercise is the way to good mental and physical health and fitness. What if that's not true?
What if you don't need to walk a certain number of steps every day to be healthy - as they have recently discovered. That never made sense to me and can create stress for those who don't have the time and dexterity to do it.
Physical activity does not have to be intense to be beneficial. Incorporating movement into your daily routine in a way that feels natural and enjoyable can be just as effective for maintaining health and fitness - and the body, mind, and soul connection.
I spend a good part of my day at my computer but take time to get up and move my body in what one might consider light exercise through daily activities which helps maintain physical fitness without the potential drawbacks associated with high-impact workouts.
Try to stay active in a way that aligns with your comfort level and lifestyle to "avoid injuries" by sabotage.
Light exercise and regular movement can indeed promote cardiovascular health, flexibility, and overall well-being - and sometimes helps with weight loss - which is more about what you eat than what you do.
Ultimately, the best exercise regimen is one that aligns with your personal preferences, capabilities, and lifestyle. Keep it light!
