I live on the corner of 4th Avenue and 101st Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. On the next corner - 4th and 100th Street we find the Narrows Coffee Shop that opened 54 years ago - serving breakfast and lunch and giving this part of Bay Ridge a cozy family feeling. The original Greek owners, Peter and Stella, are my age and worked there with their son Jimmy until Covid and then retired as is Jose after this week. You have never met nicer people. Like most coffee shops in any neighborhood it's a place locals meet and chat - especially seniors for breakfast. Cops get off the highway and stop to have breakfast or lunch. Soldiers from Ft. Hamilton down the block often stop by. I sometimes suggest the coffee shop to my clients after a session - good food - fair prices. Since Covid It's been open for take out. If you look in the window there's chairs piled on top of tables with an occasion patron seated waiting for take-out. It will be sad to see this iconic
So sad to see you guys go. Peter told me if he can find good help he'll keep the coffee shop open - but so far no luck. God speed in this crazy world.
