Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers) - Videos - Filmography
Gil Gerard, 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century' star, dies at 82
Back in the 1960's, TV space adventures took us to "Star Trek" starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy among others - a universe born of cardboard consoles, painted stars, and boundless imagination.
Moving into the 1970s we find the adventures of 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century' - where disco-era futurism met rocket ships and ray guns in a brighter, bolder vision of tomorrow. As compared to future space voyages in TV and film, these early series were humble in production but rich in ambition. Special effects were handcrafted, sets were compact, and stories unfolded in tidy, episodic chapters.
Technology upscaled in all industries through the 1970s and on ... including film and TV. Special visual and sound effects, such as green screen, would now redefine science fiction to broaden the concept of possibilities of what lies beyond.
