The Milk Hill "Mega-Fractal"Materializing on August 13, 2001, during a night of heavy rain and thick fog, the Milk Hill formation is the largest crop circle of all time.It spanned an astonishing 900 feet in diameter. It was composed of exactly 409 individual circles arranged in a massive, swirling six-armed spiral fractal (a Julia Set variant). The sheer logistics of mapping, measuring, and flattening 409 perfect circles on steep, muddy terrain during a brief 4-hour window of summer darkness remains one of the greatest engineering mysteries - human or otherwise - in field art history.
Because of Chilbolton and Milk Hill, 2001 marked the most intense period of laboratory research the phenomenon had ever seen. Biologists and biophysicists flocked to the sites to analyze the plants.
