Trump's Military Parade
The 250th anniversary of the US Army - US Flag Day - and Trump's 79th birthday will be remembered with an historic military parade and other celebrations.
It was a split screen of those who welcomed the festivities vs those who oppose Trump and thought it was unnecessary and extravagant, especially at a time when Trump and DOGE are focused on cutting government spending.
We live in the surreal world of Donald Trump where the show must go on wherever that takes the nation and the world.
In truth the turnout was low but at least it didn't rain.
Many saw the festivities as a prelude to the 250th anniversary of the signing of US Declaration of independence in 1776 happening next year and coinciding with the US, Canada, and Mexico hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At the same time over 2,000 No Kings protests were held across the US aimed at opposing the policies and actions of the Trump administration. Due to the parade coinciding with President Trump's 79th birthday, anti-Trump activists have interpreted the event as an example of Trump using the US Armed Forces to conduct an authoritarian or king-like celebration of himself. The protests followed several days of demonstrations against ICE raids across the US, including in Los Angeles, where Trump deployed both the California National Guard and the US Marine Corps. This was the largest protest in US history.
