As a former teacher - we all have to appreciate that which teachers try to do to help students - but the obstacles grow stronger, especially during the Trump administration where funding is reduced or taken away completely.
And then there's Trump policy on restarting student loan collection announced Monday.
Teachers used to love what they were doing, and often remained past retirement because they enjoyed their jobs and felt they were making a difference. That's all changing. Teachers today tell me they can't wait to get out of a chaotic system rather than deal with the ongoing issues of lack of funds, administration, parents, and children with severe challenges.
In this reality - teachers are often looked upon as being able to solve their students' issues - as one would regard medical professionals and healers - by any definition.
Souls are tired, burned out, and already know that the simulation is ending even with those who do not understand that we live in a virtual construct that had a beginning and is about to end.
Every parent wants their children to have a proper education to prepare them for the world - while dealing with unresolved challenges - at home and in school - along the way.
The dramas are many - while the solutions are few. Private school? Charter school? Religious school? Boarding school? Homeschooled with afterschool activities to socialize with peers? Bullying by emotionally disturbed children - which was always part of the equation? Lack of supplies? Drugs? Guns? And on and on as the list grows ... I've heard it all.
On this day I honor my fellow teachers in their quest to bring knowledge.
