This afternoon, as I stood on my terrace, my attention was riveted to a regatta of sailboats passing under the Verrazano Bridge as people stopped to take pics and videos. The sailboats were traveling east coming from the direction of NYC - sailing past the Statue of Liberty then under the Verrazano Bridge and finally out to sea with the Atlantic Ocean guiding their journeys. With gusty winds prevailing - today was perfect for this event.

Wanting to get a closer look and perhaps some pics and videos - I raced to the promenade in time to catch the last of the boats. I later read that this one of several events hosted by the New York Yacht Club in 2025.

The Promenade near my home follows the coastline from 101st Street where I live - all the way to the 69th Street Pier where you see the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline - including the Freedom Tower. It's also where you catch the NY Ferry to the city or east to the beaches.

I took this video hoping to capture a sailboat as it was framed by a rectangular opening at the base of the bridge from my vantage point. As a boat with white sails passed by - the gusty wind that shook my camera and blew hair over my eyes - momentarily paused long enough to capture the moment. It's one of those weather moments where the wind is easily controlled based on one's ability to manipulate time.

Standing under the exit ramp of the bridge, I met a man named Eric from the Upper West Side of Manhattan who was guided there on this day though he had come to Brooklyn on other business.

Eric, a nice looking man in his 60's - was able to take a quick video and pic of me as the last sailboat passed by. We shared pics and stories ... then as life sails by ... continued on to fulfill our destinies.

A ship is symbolic of a life path - the voyage or journey a soul takes in physical reality. Though we hope for calm seas - climate change and other life factors indicate turbulence ahead.
