It is increasingly undeniable that climate change is accelerating and guiding the future of planet Earth to a destiny moment that is defined by each person's programming for closure. Last week, the US experienced record-breaking temperatures with a heat index of 108° here in NYC on Wednesday. Along with that came Canadian wildfire smoke that lasted for days keeping residence blanketed in unhealthy air and forcing them to stay indoors. At last today - the final day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup - the sun came out and the temperatures were in the comfortable low 80s. It was a day to finally go out, take a walk, experience nature, and to simply breathe.
To know me is to know that I love trees and nature, so when a friend and I decided to take a walk through the park today, this redwood tree spoke to us.
Redwood trees symbolically represent longevity, resilience, ancient wisdom, and the deep interconnectedness of community. Standing as some of the tallest and oldest living organisms on Earth, these giants are powerful icons of endurance and natural majesty.
I've always been drawn to the gazebo in the park across the street - merging the elements of air (the Verrazano Bridge) - water (the Atlantic Ocean) - Fire (the Sun) - and the Earth upon which it stands proudly through climate events and other factors that might have destroyed it. At one point my friend George and I hung a clear quartz crystal from the center to bring good energy to the park and those who might wander in there.
Gazebos symbolically represent shelter, romance, community connection, and a peaceful boundary between human comfort and wild nature. These open-sided garden structures have been used across cultures for centuries to provide a safe place for observation and relaxation. Because they feature open sides with a solid roof, they represent the perfect middle ground between the safety of home and the beauty of the outdoors.
The massive 5.32 acre park across the street from my home is lined with lamp posts that light up mystical walkways best viewed from my terrace above at night. When it snows - or they light up the huge Christmas Tree in the park - it becomes even more enchanting.
Lamp posts symbolically represent guidance, hope, intellectual light, and a bridge between darkness and safety. They appear frequently in literature, art, and urban mythology as beacons that pierce the unknown or mark transitions between different realms.
