Orange Sunset - Canadian Wildfires

Monday Evening August 4, 2025

I took this pic from my terrace of orange haze caused by Canadian wildfires enveloping the setting sun.

Z cautioned not to look directly at the sun - only through the lens of the camera.

As I walked back inside - I thought about the latest air quality alerts - especially in NY - for those with respiratory issues.

Though I have none - in that moment I realized that the smoke from wildfires affects everyone. I often equate it to volcanic ash - both of which are toxic and block the sun. A parade of volcanoes is erupting on Russia's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula following an 8.8 earthquake last week.

I recalled encountering a woman earlier in the day wearing a surgical mask - wondering if it was due to poor air quality, respiratory issues, or perhaps related to a story I had posted earlier on Ezine. Five things to know about the summer COVID surge
