Over the past week, I have tracked four major stories where breakthroughs using LiDAR have mapped massive, previously undocumented networks of pre-Columbian urban settlements and earthworks hidden in plain sight.

Investigators used LiDAR to explore and map massive structures in the Amazon that were potentially used as astronomical observatories and more. These monuments were perhaps created or designed by extraterrestrials, thought of as ancient gods, who came to Earth, created humans, and then left, leaving behind stone markers as evidence of their time here. This is a common pattern around the world with geometric markers that overlap each other.
