Enjoy Halloween wherever you are ... whatever you're doing.

NYC's 53rd Village Halloween Parade is the world's largest Halloween parade and a legendary New York City tradition. Happening tonight, Saturday, October 31, 2026, this massive public celebration brings over 50,000 costumed participants and 2 million spectators to the streets of Greenwich Village for a night of wild creativity, radical self-expression, and spooky fun.
Sunday recap: The Village Halloween Parade in New York City brought crisp, perfect autumn weather, spectacular costumes, and positive energies as crowds lined Sixth Avenue. There were marching bands, giant puppets, and endless people showing off their homemade costumes on NY1.
Among all the standout creations, the absolute favorite was the living canvas tribute created by artist James Haggerty, who appeared dressed as a Vincent van Gogh self-portrait with his head framed inside an ornate picture frame. By applying meticulous makeup, period attire, and textured brushstroke details, he crafts a fresh recreation of one of Van Gogh's masterpieces for the parade every single year. Given that Vincent van Gogh produced over thirty distinct self-portraits and hundreds of iconic works throughout his lifetime, there is easily enough remarkable art to keep this Greenwich Village tradition thriving for years to come. Adding to the spectacle was the annual performance by Thriller NYC, whose massive mob of costumed zombies brought Michael Jackson's legendary "Thriller" dance routine to life directly in the streets. Their synchronized choreography marched straight up Sixth Avenue, getting the entire avenue cheering along to the King of Pop's greatest Halloween anthem and cementing it as one of the parade's ultimate showstoppers. Watch Friday afternoon at the final rehearsal.
Even while watching the festivities from home on my large screen TV - the infectious excitement and imaginative spirit of the night came through vividly from start to finish. You don't have to be a New Yorker to be part of this annual event. You just have to allow yourself to become part of the magic, let your imagination run wild, and step into a different reality for just one night. See you next year.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the New York City Marathon. Over the past five decades, it has grown from a local road race held entirely in Central Park to the world's largest marathon. The race always takes place on the Sunday we return to Standard Time here in the city and other parts of the world. New York City Marathon Turns 50

Return to Standard Time
I've always preferred standard time as do millions of other people around the world forced to make this cyclic adjustment twice a year.
There's something natural about standard time - the way sunrise and sunset align more closely with the rhythm of the day. My sleep cycle seems to align and adjust days before we move the clocks back.
When we return to standard time, mornings feel brighter, more grounded in the flow of nature.
Daylight Saving Time, with its artificial shift, always feels a bit like we're forcing time to bend to our will.
Standard time restores balance - a reminder that we move best when we follow the natural order rather than trying to control it.
As the clocks fall back and the days grow shorter, there's comfort in slowing down and in recognizing that light and darkness each have their season and their purpose.
The time-change system remains in place for now - 'falling back' each November and 'springing forward' each March.
If a move to permanent standard time is ever to happen, it will take legislation and the will to overcome political and geographic divides.
Everything tends to be politically driven - apparently even 'time' itself and the 'space' we move through - woven within the illusion of reality accelerating so quickly we hardly have a chance to question or understand the forces shaping our perception.
Like a magician's trick - this rapid pace keeps us distracted, making it easy to accept constructed narratives without realizing how deeply our experience of existence is influenced by unseen forces in the illusion of time.

Quote: Like me, Jean-Luc has lived an unusual life that has taken him far beyond the bounds of normal human experience. But he is also someone who has remained true to his earthbound roots, for they are what gave him his identity. In the end, he feels the call of home, just as do I.

Q (John De Lancie) was my favorite character of the Star Trek franchise. It was his omnipotence and mischievous side that drew me to him. I enjoyed him best with Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) but together with Jean-Luc they created absolute television magic. ~ Ellie
The 35-year relationship between Jean-Luc Picard and the omnipotent entity Q is one of the most complex, defining dynamics in the Star Trek franchise. What began as an adversarial clash between a godlike judge and a defiant human captain eventually evolved into a profound, deeply personal bond of mutual respect, mentorship, and cosmic affection.

On this date in history - Orson Wells broadcasted H. G. Welles' novel War of the Worlds. Radio listeners around the world were mesmerized - stirring their belief of entities or gods beyond the sky and how they may have had a hand in creating humanity.
As always, the unknown, and loss of control, stirs fear in humans as a built-in survival mechanism. A Martian invasion certainly would create that frequency harmonic for humans in any timeline.
The imagined connection between humans and Martians became more than fiction - it became a mystery that continues to this day as we search for truth among the stars that beckon us home.
Adding to the enigma, during the 1930s and 1940s mysterious glowing orbs - later called Foo Fighters - alien drones - were reported over Europe months before the outbreak of World War II on September 1, 1939.
The 1940's ... With the rapid evolution of communication and technology - rumored to be fueled by reverse-engineered crashed UFOs - human progress seemed to accelerate at warp speed.
These unexplained phenomena gave rise to modern UFOlogy. Reports of strange sightings and alleged hybrid experiments spread - some tied to Hitler's obsessive quest to create a superhuman army - others whispered to be alien attempts to merge with humanity - which lead to all sorts of coverups and conspiracies, many of which exist today.
The ultimate purpose of these experiments remains unknown though many have theories - some based on humans who claim to have had ongoing interaction with other worldly entities ... beyond the gray that shrouds us in illusion.
The gray aliens that we find in media - connecting to many of the missing pieces of the UFO puzzle - are artificial intelligence - something that has integrated itself into our timeline guiding us to a final destiny.
Time's up! In 2007 the alien experiments on humans ended leaving behind enigmatic monuments and artifacts that challenge human thinking to find out more. Among them are drones in various shapes and sizes whose purpose is to secure that the human experiment ends as per the algorithm that created it.
Orson Welles was one of many conduits revealing that emotion is the engine driving the simulation we perceive as reality.
Radio signals sent out across the airwaves ... perhaps into outer space as tiggers for something or someone ...
Human discovery has brought forth many answers as programmed in the simulation of reality - but as of this post - that which we seek remains hidden - hopefully not for all time.
Through the course of human discovery, countless answers have surfaced - each unfolding as programmed within the grand design of the simulation. Yet, even now, what we truly seek remains hidden - perhaps not forever, but for as long as the story requires.

Today in Media History: The Internet began with a crash on October 29, 1969
The beginning of the Internet is the story of two large computers, miles apart, sending the message: "LO". The world has never been the same. In the late 1960s an experimental network of four computers called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) was commissioned by the U.S. government. The computers were located at UCLA, SRI International (then known as Stanford Research Institute), UC Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah.
ARPANET evolved into the network of computer networks we know as the Internet. The first message was sent between two ARPANET computers. They tried to type in "LOGIN," but the computers crashed after the first two letters.
Do you remember the days of "Dial Up" to get online?
Do you remember life before you could click a button and connect with the world and others who are meaningful to you? How about the days before social media and smart cell phones as your brain accesses information instantly?
The rest, as they say, is history moving faster in time - forever evolving and reshaping our world each time we connect to the digital universe where AI stands as the next great leap in human communication and discovery - learning, adapting, and expanding what's possible. Others caution that such immense power must be guided with wisdom, ensuring we remain the stewards of our own future.
In the end, destiny is the force propelling reality forward to its ultimate destination - with AI and the Internet emerging as natural progressions in humanity's evolutionary journey - creating new circuits of intelligence to decode what lies within our DNA - while helping us unravel age-old questions about who we are and why we are here. Is AI positive or negative? As with everything in physical reality it is both.

Today I walked along Shore Road Promenade near my home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Last week I found a feather in Manhattan Beach by the shore. Today I found another as the Atlantic flowed past me again. With respect to the elements and thanks to a student I met along the way named David who took the video and pic.
