Holidays, Politics, Relationships, Moving, and Other Stuff

Monday November 11, 2024

With the election over - and half of the country happy - while the other half experiences the outcome as surreal - we move to the upcoming holiday season.

As people gather for Thanksgiving - there will still be disagreements between family members who have vastly different opinions on Trump's reelection.

Many will argue - while others will just let it go and make personal decisions in reference to - job and early retirement, where they want to live based on their job, the climate, and the economy especially those who work for the government where big changes lie ahead.

I haven't blogged much about relationships recently because we all know the deal. If you're in a dysfunctional relationship it's because you're programmed for that experience until it's over. If you leave too early, it becomes a Yo-yo Effect ... We're together -> then we separate -> then we try again which more often than not doesn't work out until in total exhaustion the two people realize they are better off living separately. Don't live to drive yourself and the other person crazy.

Best advice is don't let anybody into your life and heart if they have too much baggage. This is hard to do when your heart (programming) kicks in and 'reason' goes out the window. Suddenly it's a Soulmate Moment - which as we know might never happen or are few and far between. This of course leads to wondering about your own ability to be in a relationship, and how and why you pick the people you do ... and on and on until you might consider a therapist or a psychic.

Long distance relationships work if both parties are happy with the situation, but usually one person wants more. In the long term people generally do not move when they live near their friends, family, and jobs. Go in with your eyes wide open.

Should you let a lover move in with you? Think twice if they don't have any place to go should it not work out.

How do you survive whatever you feel is coming in the bigger picture? Lots to process. Prepare as best you can for anything ...

I have several clients who told me they want to find a remote area to live where they don't have to deal with other humans - just a few pets and they're good to go ... For burned out souls it's a great idea but determine the pitfalls. As we live in a bipolar reality it will have pros and cons. If you're already there and happy always be prepared especially with climate change affecting everyone everywhere.

As the Hallmark Channel and Netflix feature their 40+ Christmas Romcoms - many people envision living in a place depicted in these movies along with finding their soulmate. Reality check.

Those who talked about moving out of country if Trump won - probably are not going anywhere for the most part as there are too many uncertainties no matter where you live today.

Here in Bay Ridge terraces and balconies still display flags in favor of either Trump or Harris. Some neighbors see a New World Order and a better world while others see a mentally ill president returning with a ridiculous cast of loyalists to run the country and determine the future.

Last night - as I relaxed and gazed out over the bridge - I saw the first decorations of the holiday season - lights and Frosty the Snowman to brighten the night sky. This will not be an easy Christmas and New Year for millions of Americans not just about Trump being reelected - but about what they lost this year due to climate change, natural disasters, and other factors that shaped 2024.

I plan to spend time with family and friends this holiday season - knowing in my heart that 2025 will be a year like no other.
