Late night talk shows follow a pattern - a monologue about the news followed mostly by entertainers pitching their latest projects. In recent years guests have also included politicians making statements or pitching their books or other platforms.
I usually watch the monologues the next day as time permits - Bill Maher and Jimmy Kimmel (both gone for the summer), Stephen Colbert and Lawrence O'Donnell (MSNBC).
The only late night talk show I guested on was "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" years ago. I'm not into his quirky approach though he is good guy who currently has a talk show Monday nights on Comedy Central.s
I was sad when I heard Colbert's announcement about the cancellation of his show - but alas all things come to an end. He will find other venues as most talk show hosts do. It definitely feels like it's time for change. I wouldn't be surprised if other networks drop their talk shows - or cut back - as they are losing money. It follows on daytime TV as well.
Many wonder if Trump's settlement with Paramount resulted in the end of The Late Show? Not important. Change was coming and it's far from over.
Trump is one of the most interesting characters in our simulation. He stirs the pot and elicits emotions that awaken humanity. But that's his place in the simulation and no one could do it better.
In 2016 - I knew Trump was going to be president probably due to the chaos and controversy he would create which features in the collapse of a simulation.
Most people go along with their daily lives - programmed to seek balance and heal - and only 'snap out of it' when chaos hits home ... enter Trump. His health is deteriorating as we all know but he is not finished until the end.
Sometimes I think it's more comforting when people live in denial - but then again we are too close to the end to ignore the facts.
Next month, Crystalinks turns 30, and according to the stats is still going strong. I am often surprised at how many millions of readers still return either daily or whenever. It's been a journey and we are almost home - back in the chaos that creates everything you experience as real.
Good luck Stephen wherever life takes you.
