I always think of Burning Man as a haven for what was once gatherings of hippies in my day - sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll brought forward into the 21st century.

Burning Man is an event for creative people to showcase their talent, express their views on just about everything, meet others of life mind, work on relationships, help find themselves, allegedly embrace their spiritual side, and let loose.

I've had many clients who attended Burning Man in the past and plan to return in the future - or maybe not after the past few years of dust storms, and other climate change events. I'm sure most attendees know the pitfalls - planning this journey for months - and what one might call a 'creative pilgrimage' to the desert.

In the age of extraterrestrials and UFOs, I can only assume that many are hopeful "someone" or something shows up.

After a week of following the effects of climate change on Black Rock City in the Nevada Desert - where a baby girl was born one month early, many installations were destroyed including some extraordinary artwork, drug arrests were made, the orgy dome was destroyed, people we're transported from Burning Man by ground and air ambulances, a man was electrocuted after stepping on a live wire in a puddle, another man was found dead in a pool of blood, and other things we don't read about - perhaps posted on Instagram and shared within this community.

Saturday Night - They Burned The Effigy - the festival's ongoing signature event. The storms may have historically led to challenges but also to camaraderie and a strong spirit among attendees, who remain dedicated to the festival's traditions.
