We all take away memories from our teens years - often accompanied by the music that personified a generation.

Two icons from my generation passed this week - Brian Wilson and Sly Stone - both my age, 82.

Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys - one of the most successful American groups of all time - transformed the sound of music in the 1960's along with the Beatles.

Those were the years I danced on FOX TV in NYC on a show called "The Big Beat" with Alan Freed.

At this time - when California is 'under attack' - and the world is in chaos - The Beach Boys' music lives on.

Sly Stone - the frontman for Sly and the Family Stone was considered another transformative genius in my timeline. I remember watching him perform at Woodstock as I sat there barefoot and pregnant with my husband and our friends.
