A few years ago the price and availability of cars was influenced by Covid. Today we find Trump announced new import taxes of 25% on cars and car parts coming into the US. The latest tariffs would come into effect on 2 April, with charges on businesses importing vehicles starting the next day. Taxes on parts are set to start on May 3. Trump's goal is to increase the American auto industry - but hopefully he realizes American cars are also built with foreign parts.
There's been all sorts of fallout aimed at Tesla vehicles due to Elon Musk's DOGE policies while aiding Trump in dismantling more and more of the government as they try to drive home authoritarian rule in the US. FBI launches task force targeting anti-Tesla domestic terrorism
Since I was a child I've followed the auto industry - owning foreign, domestic, classic, and concept cars - in different colors and models. Here I am at the NY auto show a few years ago.
As a child, my parents and I used to visit my uncle Dave's farm in the Catskill mountains of New York where I watched him drive his pick up truck and always thought that was a very cool thing to do. Unfortunate. I never owned a pick up but it's never too late. ...
My father drove a Chevy Impala. At age 20 - I married a man named Ralph who loved cars as much as I do - his favorite Mercury convertibles which became my ride until we had children and bought various station wagons the predecessor to the SUV and minivans as a family vehicle. I had several styles and colors - my favorite - and final model - a yellow Chrysler with wood panels on the doors.
I grew up in an era where most everyone drove American made cars having owned many models at one time or another - finally discovering the Lexus SUV in 1991 - always white and traded in every few years.
It would stand to reason that my three daughters would also love cars - my youngest daughter Nikki marrying Ryan who owns Land Rover Fairfield in Connecticut.
I've driven in electric vehicles of different brands but never drove one. I prefer standard gas vehicles - although many newer hybrid models have both features and drive well. The dashboards are also really cool.
Past life regressions have taken me to Europe pre-WWII - where I've seen myself driving a 1936 yellow Duesenberg convertible along a country road, which always seems to be meaningful, but not quite sure where it's taking me other than my experiences in that timeline as a physicist involved with time travel.
In metaphysics a vehicle is sometimes
used as a metaphor for someone's life path.
